INTRODUCTION TO SPINNING - is a two hour class that demonstrates the art to the beginning spinner. This class is a hands-on introduction with information and wool roving supplied. Spinning comes with practice and is awkward in the beginning. Depending on the time devoted to working with the wheel, students usually graduate to SPINNING AND PLYING within a few weeks to months. It's very individual! SPINNING AND PLYING - This second class is provided after a student has practiced and feels ready to learn to ply and produce a first skein of yarn. We will talk about the different kinds of roving, the setting of the twist and recommend resources to help you continue. The class fee is $25 per class. We recommend both classes as a way to first learn the basics, give you practice time and then provide help with plying and skeining and yarn types. Please contact me at home if you have questions or to arrange classes for you. If you have a friend to learn with, it helps! I also have information on purchasing Spinning Wheels. Some are much easier to learn on than others. I bring wheels to class that can be used and purchased or you can bring your own. The wheels have many different qualities and work in different ways, and we go over the basics in class. |
